“Let’s Grow Tennis” 2024 Recipients

Meet our 2024 Grant Recipients!

“It is my goal and desire to give back to the sport of tennis and to the community by offering affordable tennis instruction as well as acquiring grants and resources and passing on those benefits to the community.” – Coach Sikes

“I would like to be able to supply my varsity girls team with actual tennis court shoes and more advanced tennis rackets to keep up with their game. Since this summer our boys and girls program has grown from 8 kids to 34 kids and our budget has been completely tied up by just trying to keep up with the growth.” – Coach Nowicki

“Borrow a Tennis Kit: Parents and children can visit the Bee Cave or Lake Travis Community Library to check out an LTTA Tennis Kit. Each kit includes a racquet, balls, and instructional materials, providing everything a child needs to get started. This initiative aims to foster in children physical fitness, social skills, mental focus, confidence, and a lifelong love of tennis.” – Sarah White

“TATA works to provide tennis to vulnerable and disadvantaged youth at no cost. We have done so since 2011. Our events include instruction, food, and a racquet all completely free. ” – Coach Reese

“The mission is simple: to create and foster a tennis community within the ACC district. As a community college, we lack the resources to not only establish, but also sustain, a tennis club—especially if our team gets any bigger. We need funding to secure courts for practice, purchase materials, and host events/tournaments in the future.” – Earl Yu founder of the Tennis Club at Austin Community College

Coinciding with the spring break of Dripping Springs and the music segment of SXSW in Austin, Megan organized an event that was a remarkable day of sportsmanship and enjoyment. This initiative involved collaboration with local businesses and leveraged the talent available at Hudson’s On Mercer School of Music and DISD.

We aim to grow tennis within LASA, while teaching students each Wednesday at the LASA tennis courts. The club is run by Harrison Chambers, Mahir Vallabhaneni, and Nash Baldridge, who are all varsity members of the LASA tennis team. Each Wednesday morning, we will teach the members basic tennis stroke and footwork skills, while also mixing in fun games.

The CATA Community Grant is designed to help support new and existing tennis programs and facilities in communities throughout Central Texas that align with our mission: to promote and develop the lifetime sport of tennis for all in order to have a happier, healthier community.
