The CATA Gran Prix Junior Tour is an eight tournament series intended for beginner and intermediate players only. Please do not register your player if they are a CHAMP or SUPERCHAMP. They will not be allowed to participate. Tournament play is intended for Saturday and will only start on Friday IF the number of entrants dictate.
Tournament seeding was established first by USTA Texas Challenger standings list and second by CATA Gran Prix Junior Tour standings list.
All matches will be played at Lakeway World of Tennis. Please arrive 15-30 minutes before scheduled match time and be ready to play when you check in.

This tournament is part of the 2018 CATA Gran Prix Junior Tour Tournament Series for city ranking purposes; a local non-sanctioned junior tournament. Tournaments are intended to be a one day Saturday event unless rain dictates Sunday play. Other divisions with large draws may start Friday evening.
FORMAT: 12-18’s – 8 game pro-set, no ad scoring. 7 pt tiebreaker at 7-7. Players are guaranteed two matches.
10 & under GREEN – full court (78′), green dot ball, any length racquet. Each match is two short sets of first to 4 games, no-ad scoring, sudden death game at 3-3. A 7-point tie break is played if each player wins a set.
10 & under ORANGE – 60 ft court, orange low compression ball, 25″ maximum racquet length. Each match is two short sets of first to 4 games, no-ad scoring, sudden death game at 3-3. A 7-point tie break is played if each player wins a set.

Participation in Junior Tour makes CATA membership automatic. No additional membership enrollment required. Events: Non-qualified Boys/Girls Singles ages 5-18. Entry fee $33 ($30 per player + $3 non-refundable TennisLink fee).

Doubles Adult Major Zone tournament.

HEADQUARTERS: Capital Area Tennis Association – Administrative office only. (Tournament to be played at multiple sites), Austin, TX.

Modified Feed-In Consolation Draws – First round and Second round losers will feed in into the Consolation Draw.

Format Best of 3 tie-break sets, 10-point COMAN tiebreak in lieu of 3rd set.
Confirmed Sites: Courtyard Tennis and Swim Club and Austin Tennis Academy
Large draws may begin play on Friday beginning at 9:00 am

NEW DIVISIONS – Age 50+ players – please note that this tournament is offering the new age 50+ 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels divisions. These new divisions will receive qualifying points towards the 2020 National NTRP Championship tournament.

No-Show Defaults: I
f a player does not send written notice that they will need to default a match, to the Tournament Director at least one hour before the date and time of the scheduled match, the defaulting player will receive 5 Suspension Points.

NTRP TX Sanctioned players are required to Self Rate, if they have no rating. If a player enters and plays a TX Sanctioned tournament levels division with a “0.0” rating, they will be notified that Self Ratings are now required for play in levels divisions in Texas Sanctioned Tournaments. A player violating this rule by playing in a levels division in a second sanctioned tournament without a self rating will receive an automatic 30 day suspension and any points earned from those tournaments will be removed.

Round Robin draws: a player who is defaulted for any reason other than lateness shall not play in subsequent matches. If a player or team defaults, they will not be allowed to play the Rounds following that defaulted match, and if subsequent matches are played, those matches will not count towards rankings.

SEEDING: USTA Texas recommends the “All Factors Method” of seeding for Ad/Sr/SS divisions and that Committees use the Texas 12 Month Rolling Standings List for initial considerations. If other information is to be considered (such as head-to-head wins), emails must be sent to the Tournament Director immediately after entry deadline.

The tournament offers an 8s division to introduce young players to competition utilizing the Red Ball, both Orange and Green Ball divisions for 10s of all abilities, and a Green Ball Novice division to include beginning players ages 11-14. (A novice player is new to tournaments and match play, with limited experience, ability, or understanding of the game). Matches will be played in accordance with all six Red, Orange, and Green Ball Tennis elements respectively.
