The computer records the scores in this fashion because the TennisLink
database is calculating both team results and player results. This
scorecard tells the computer how many rating "points" to give to each
individual player based on the results of that line. Similarly, this
scorecard tells the computer how the team overall is performing relative to
other teams in this league (based on total number of matches, lines, sets, games
won) which, in turn, determines which team goes to Sectionals.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE:
| USTA will automatically enter
"DOUBLE DEFAULT" for unreported match scores past the 48-hour
deadline. |
| It is the
primary responsibility of the WINNING captain to enter scores; however, BOTH
CAPTAINS share responsibility to enter scores in order to meet the 48 hour deadline. |
| In case of rainout, captains should contact their respective Flight
Coordinator to set up a 3-week window whereby scores can be changed;
otherwise, double defaults "freeze" after 96 hours and cannot be
changed. |

Definitions
of All "Match Completion Status" Options
| Individual DEFAULTS:
An individual default occurs when a player fails to appear on time, or is defaulted by a tournament official for misconduct.
|
 | Scoring of Individual
DEFAULTS: The
Scoring of Individual Defaults: The defaults will be scored as a 6-0, 6-0 win for the player or doubles team receiving the default and a 0-6, 0-6 loss for the player or doubles team that defaulted the match. In the event of a default by both opposing players or doubles teams, both sides will be given a 0-6, 0-6 loss and neither receives credit for a win. If a double default results in a tie, the tie-break procedure shall be the same as 3.03I of the 2007 USTA League Regulations in order to determine a winner of that team match.
|
Team
Defaults. A
team must have a minimum number of eligible players available for play in each match or the entire match must be defaulted.
|
For
matches having 5 lines: A team may forfeit a maximum of two lines in
a match without defaulting the entire match. In such cases, defaults shall be
determined by the team captain in accordance with the following:
 |
Singles.
The No. 2
singles must be defaulted before the No. 1 singles may be defaulted.
|
 |

The No. 3
doubles must be defaulted before the No. 2 doubles and the No. 2 doubles
must be defaulted before the No. 1 doubles.
|

forfeits shall be determined by the team captain in accordance with the
following:
 | Doubles.
The No. 3 doubles must be forfeited before the No. 2
doubles and the No. 2 doubles must be forfeited before the No. 1 doubles.
|
|
| Scoring of Team Defaults.
If a team defaults an entire match for any reason during round robin play, then all matches of that team played or to be played shall be null and void. The Local Leagues Committee may impose further sanctions or penalties on said team.
|
| Retirement.
A retirement occurs when an
individual match has started and a player (doubles team) is unable to
continue due to injury, loss of condition or emergency.
 | Scoring of Retirements.
In case of a retirement, the
non-retiring player (doubles team) shall be credited with such number of
additional games as would have been won if the match was completed and the
non-retiring player (doubles team) won every subsequent game.
 | ENTERING SCORES
ON TENNISLINK: When entering the Score on TennisLink,
enter the actual Score as it was when the retirement occurred (4-1 for
example) and click RETIRED
in the box below. Give the win to the non-retiring player(s).
TennisLink will give the additional points to the team that won, but
those points won't be averaged in as it stands as far as a personal
NTRP rating for the non-retiring player(s). For standings
purposes, TennisLink awards the non-retiring team the appropriate
number of sets and games required to win the match. |
