Hey Tennis Animals!

This Memorial Day Monday I’ll be hosting a BBQ and Tennis Mixer at Caswell, from 10 am- 1 pm.  BYOB Drinks and food, but we’ll have a grill for you to do your cooking on!  (I might wrangle up a volunteer chef..)

Format:  FNT!!!!   Might be just 8 games and switch though.  Depends on numbers.

FREE Tennis!  Courts are paid for, sponsored by Caswell, Public Tennis and Wolfe Group.  Raffle!  Prizes, and money from raffle tickets will go to closing costs/ inspections costs for a vet/ vets closing on their next home!

French Open!  Will be on TVs in Club House, as well as in the shaded pavilion area with the bbq and beer.

Get your exercise in early, then go to your pool parties…

Julio Godreau, will lead a special clinic. Julio who is originally from Puerto Rico played at Duquesne University and is currently the Director of Junior Development for USTA Texas. He is a USPTA Certified Elite Pro and Player Development Specialist; Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Master of Tennis Performance; and is USTA high performance certified. He has been recognized as Pro of the Year by PTR, USPTA and USTA Southern. Godreau previously served as the co-director of tennis and COO at the Windyke Country Club and the Tennessee Tennis Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a consultant and coach for the USTA National Player Development department and has conducted on-site evaluations at National Regional Training Centers across the country. Julio is also a faculty member of the Tennis Congress.

The Polo Club is located at 13730 Highway 290, Austin TX 78737. The phone number is 512-829-4340. This tournament is part of the 2017 CATA Gran Prix Junior Tour Tournament Series for city ranking purposes; a local non-sanctioned junior tournament.
FORMAT: 12-18’s – Eight game pro-set. Players are guaranteed two matches. 10 & under GREEN – full court (78′), green dot ball, any length racquet. Each match is two out of three short sets, first to 4 games, no-ad scoring, sudden death game at 3-3. 3rd set is 7 pt match tie-break.
10 & under ORANGE – 60 ft court, orange low compression ball, 25″ maximum racquet length. Each match is two out of three short sets, first to 4 games, no-ad scoring, sudden death game at 3-3. 3rd set is 7 pt match tie-break.

Participation in Junior Tour makes CATA membership automatic. No additional membership enrollment required. Events: Non-qualified Boys/Girls Singles ages 5-18. Entry fee is $30 ($27 per player + $3 non-refundable TennisLink fee).
In case of rain or matches delay, tournament will be completed on Sunday, June 11 2017.

Notes

Future Stars Tournaments are one day sanctioned events for players aged 8-14. The tournament offers an 8s division to introduce young players to competition utilizing the Red Ball, both Orange and Green Ball divisions for 10s of all abilities, and a Green Ball Novice division to include beginning players ages 11-14. (A novice player is new to tournaments and match play, with limited experience, ability, or understanding of the game). Matches will be played in accordance with all six Red, Orange, and Green Ball Tennis elements respectively.

Pre-Tournament Warm-Up and Play Day
On Friday evening, June 9th from 6:30-8:00 pm we will be hosting a Future Stars Warm-Up at Onion Creek. This is a fun event with practice sets/tiebreakers, court games, and PIZZA!
